I had a wonderful time working at the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) Water during the summer and fall of 2018 as the Supplier Diversity Intern for the Office of Supplier Diversity and Inclusion (OSDI). WSSC Water is in-charge of supplying clean water to Montgomery County and Prince George's County in Maryland. While I was there, I completed many tasks and projects I was given. On a daily basis, I identified, tracked, and maintained procurement records and documentation and managed the logistics of the solicitation process through assigning and tracking Supplier Diversity contract review memo requests.
One of the major projects I was assigned to was assisting the Supplier Diversity Project Manager in managing and developing team projects and programs related to improving the efficiency of new processes and transitioning the department into an electronic contract review process. Also, I was in-charge of cataloguing, scanning, and archiving all of the physical files from FY 2017-2018 into the office’s online database.
Another project I started and completed was creating a historical timeline presentation of the department through PowerPoint and Prezi for the OSDI Director, which was posted on the office’s webpage. This increased engagement on their website and helped customers understand more about Supplier Diversity's role at WSSC Water. The last task I worked on was designing all the graphics for the FY 2018 Legislative Report, such as the cover page and all the charts/graphs. I helped complete the report two months ahead of the deadline.
